The Houdini Box by Brian Selznick
I just finished reading one of the 2011 Bluestem nominees to our Third, Fourth and Fifth grade classes. It was The Houdini Box by Brian Selznick. This is a fantastic story about a young boy named Victor who wants to become a magician just like Harry Houdini. Victor tries escaping from trunks, holding his breath underwater for 5,000 seconds and walking through walls, but he has no luck! Read what happens to Victor after he meets Harry Houdini in the train station. Does he learn Houdini's tricks? Can he finally escape from his grandmother's trunk? You'll have to read to find out!
This book was a HUGE hit at Glen Oaks! Read it and let us know what YOU think about it.
Happy Reading!
